ALIVE

ALIVE provides social-emotional and academic intervention to K-6 students in foster care, facing homelessness, or with undocumented status. Its targeted program meets students where they are, with instruction customized to the needs and interests of each child.

“When the pandemic hit in 2020, it was critical for us to provide our students with the learning tools they would need to stay engaged in their learning,” says Rebecca Dreyfus, Cofounder and Developmental Learning Director at ALIVE.

Maier Math Foundation quickly compiled sets of math manipulatives for ALIVE’s students, and included the materials in ALIVE’s back-to-school kits so that students could engage in deep math learning from a distance.

“I’m very impressed by the Maier Math Foundation’s help in providing curricula and resources, and feel that the strategies have deepened not only my students’ understanding of math, but mine, as well,” says Rebecca.
